Thorin's Story
Throin spent his early years as a proud member of the Hammerfall clan, a small group of outcast dwarves famous for their uncanny knack of locating rich veins of the rarest metals. He considered the clan his family, never knowing his parents or how he came to be member.
He grew to be a couple hands taller than his fellow clansmen. Resulting in the suspicion that he was not of pure blood, a half-dwarf, although what the other half might be was not immediately apparent. This led to more than a few jokes involving orcs, but rarely to his face since he had become one of the clan’s better brawlers.
In his 31st year the clan’s luck ran out, while surveying the extent of a newly discovered mithril vein the clan incautiously stumbled into the lair of an ancient shadow dragon. The battle was sift and terrible. Only Thorin and two of his younger clansmen survived.
The three survivors wandered aimlessly in the underdark for many months. Finally finding themselves under a strange starry sky. Thus, Thorin passed into the realm of the wood elves. The three would have silently meet their end in that secluded wood, had not an elven priestess convinced the queen that they must have been sent by elhonna. The elves took the three in and treated them as their own. Thorin fascinated by elven magic, studied it with a passion, but his axe and bow were not totally neglected.
After ten years among the elves, news of the great troll invasion reached the wood. When a group of elven warriors headed south to war, Thorin joined their ranks eager to prove his worth. Thorin fought bravely with axe and spell beside the elves until the trolls were finally driven back into the swamps. When the elves returned north Thorin stayed behind to explore this strange and wondrous new world of men.
